Best for glitz and glamour, grace Bay Beach, fequently voted the best beach in the world, it is an absolute peach: perfect white sands, crystal-clear water and not a rock or bit of seaweed to be seen. It’s kept this pristine by a barrier reef a mile out, which ensures that the waters are beautifully calm, making it perfect for family swimming. Grace Bay Beach itself is about three miles long but it’s part of a seven-mile stretch that is walkable.

Best for kiteboarding, long bay, the consistent eastern trade winds which blow on to Long Bay make it the island’s premier beach for kiteboarding. The water is just a couple of feet deep for a considerable distance from the shoreline, so it’s perfect for beginners and more experienced boarders, and the sand here is older than at Grace Beach, making it a little less soft to walk on, but giving it greater purchase.
